Defect – Anklets shall be examined for the following defects: any hole, cut, run or dropped stitch, including hole in seaming; thin area or mend; welt edge uneven, frayed, raveled; uneven knitting, not well shaped (boarding); color not as specified; any spot or stain; not knitted as specified; marking missing; any measurement of item not as specified; any defect not otherwise classified herein but at variance with the product demonstration model.
Preservation – Each pair of anklets shall be secured together at the tops of the leg by a pressure sensitive paper label. The pressure sensitive backing substance shall not adhere to the anklets when the label is removed. Each pair of anklets shall be folded at the heels in accordance with industry practice. Six pairs of anklets, with each pair reversed, or every three pairs reversed, shall be evenly stacked in a bundle. Each bundle shall be loosely bound around the center with any suitable commercial grade kraft paper. The ends of the paper wrapper shall be either pinned, pasted, or secured with gummed paper tape (1 inch minimum width) or pressure sensitive tape.
Packing – Seventy-two (72) pairs of anklets, preserved as specified above, shall be packed in a fiberboard shipping container assembled and reinforced conforming to type CF, class domestic, variety DW, grade 200, size 1A 01 MIL-B-17757. The fiberboard for the box liner shall conform to type CF, class domestic of MIL-B-17757. Each container shall have the contents completely covered on the top and bottom with a sheet of suitable grade of commercial kraft paper.
Marking - In addition to any special mat-king required by the contract or order, unit packs, intermediate or exterior containers, and palletized unit loads shall be marked in accordance with MIL-STD-129.
Palletization – When specified in the contract, anklets packed as specified above, shall be palletized on a 4-way entry pallet in accordance with load type Ia of MIL-STD-147. Each prepared load shall be bonded with primary and secondary straps in accordance with the bonding methods C and D or Film bonding F or G. Pallet patterns shall be in accordance with the appendix of MIL-STD-147. The pallet shall be 4-way, type IV; type V, class 1, size 2; or type VIII, fabricated from wood groups I, II, III or IV, grade A of NN-P-71, or 4-way, style 1, size A, type 1, class 1 fabricated from groups specified of MIL-P-15011. Interlocking of loads shall be effected by reversing the pattern of each course. If the container is of a size which does not conform to any of the patterns specified in MIL-STD-147, the pallet pattern used shall first be approved by the contracting officer.
