COMMERCIAL ITEM DESCRIPTION
ANKLET’S, WOMAN’S, ACRYLIC AND NYLON, RIBBED, STRETCH TYPE
This Commercial Item Description is authorized for use in preference to MIL-A-29131.
Description - The anklets shall be made of 80 (± 3) percent acrylic and 20 (± 3) percent stretch nylon which includes the reinforced toe and heel area. Tile anklets shall be made seamless, in one integral unit on a circular knit machine having a cylinder diameter of 4-1/2 inches and a minimum of 84 needles. The upper portion of the anklet (leg) shall be a 1 by 1 rib knit. The foot portion, including sole, heel and toe, of the anklet shall be a plain jersey knit. The acrylic yarn shall be plaited over the nylon stretch yarn throughout the entire anklet construction. The toe closure shall be as elastic as the knit portion of the anklet and shall be smooth, free from lumps and laps. A thread chain of 1/2 to 1 inch shall be left at the ends of tile stitching to prevent raveling.
Material - The knitting yarns shall be acrylic anti nylon. The acrylic yarn shall be a hi-bulk type and shall be size 2/29’s (± 5%) worsted count. The nylon yarn shall be stretch-type and shall be size 70/2’s (± 5%) denier. The yarn used for reinforcing the toe and heel area shall be a single end of 70 (± 5%) denier stretch type nylon. The color of the finished anklets shall black Navy Shade 3232, piece number 76238.
Sizes - The anklet shall be of one type only in the following sizes:
Medium (8 to 9-1/2) to fit shoe sizes 4 to 6-1/2
Large (10 to 11) to fit shoe sizes 7 to 11-1/2
Marking - The contractor’s commercial marking label is acceptable.
